Before you specify
Measure the room.
Plan the cabinet.
A useful brief records the room as it is and the cabinet you want. Have your installer verify the site and the final drawing before fabrication.
Measure between finished surfaces.
Record the usable wall width at the floor, cabinet top and an intermediate height. Note the smallest measurement, tile or finish work still to come, baseboards and out-of-plumb corners. Photograph the wall with a tape measure visible. Do not assume a nominal room width is the finished cabinet width: fillers, scribe allowances and installation clearance must be agreed.
Locate plumbing and adjoining fixtures.
Mark supply valves, waste and trap locations from a clear datum such as the finished floor and one side wall. Add the proposed basin and countertop drawings, outlet positions, door swings and nearby toilet or shower. Ask your installer to check drawer, shelf and trap clearance and any service access. Do not cut or alter a cabinet from a website schematic.
Confirm support and installation.
Record wall construction, available blocking and floor condition. A floating appearance in a reference image does not confirm a mounting system. Your installer and the workshop must agree the actual fixing/support details for the cabinet, top and basin loads. The website does not provide load ratings or an approved anchoring design.
Separate a request from an approved dimension.
The builder accepts your requested width. Its height, depth, toe kick, basin openings and internal arrangements are provisional planning choices. The final approval sheet must state W × D × H, material and hardware requirements, tolerances, clearances, cut-outs and any fillers. Only the written approved drawing authorizes production.
List construction and finish requirements.
Ask the quote to identify carcass/front materials and thicknesses, drawer construction, runner and hinge models, requested soft-close features and supplied hardware. A finish name does not guarantee wood species or solid timber. A hardware color does not name a model or establish inclusion. Request physical finish sample availability and agree the approval method, any fee and timing before order.
Plan the route into the room.
Record the delivery address and ZIP, stairs, lift sizes, tight turns, door openings, loading access and building rules. The service must be selected using the packed cabinet dimensions and weight. Confirm whether unloading, carrying in, unpacking, packaging removal or appointments are included in the written quote.
Know the cabinet scope.
Countertops, sinks, faucets, installation and styling are excluded from the cabinet scope. Hardware and extras require written confirmation.
